Mail Race and Historical Fiction Book Report
Audrey selected to write to a missile defense company and a five star hotel chain which was part of their business writing project in their class. Last week she had received responses and read the replies in class. Her class learned about how an organization is formed, the type of service or product, how, why and type of training of people from all the responses they got! She also presented her Historical Fiction Book Report orally about “The Ballad of Lucy Whipple” by Karen Cushman. Audrey read the book; also researched and gathered information during the 1850’s Gold Rush. Indeed, it is a good way for a kid to learn how to survive and make the most of it during any harsh conditions. Not only had she learned some important facts, she was so happy that she had received an A+ on her Historical Fiction Book Report. She is always blessed with the best teachers ever!

A Monumental Field Trip
Tomorrow, the entire student body of Karl and Audrey’s school will be singing patriotic songs on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, symbolic of the 1939 vocal performance by Marian Anderson in the same location, after she was denied access to Constitution Hall because of the color of her skin. It will be on the local news.

Fourth grade students will support their study of the Virginia history at the Jefferson Memorial! Audrey had been studying really hard in Social Studies and she is also learning skills in journalism and many more. Sixth grade students will visit the Washington Monument which is more than meets the eye! The sights from the top are definitely worth it! Anything about high elevation and towers are a must for Karl (Audrey's older brother)! All the other grade students will visit particular monuments that are significant to their grade’s curriculum!
